Survey Says: India And Brazil Are Environmental Best.
In a survey conducted by National Geographic , India and Brazil are regarded as the greenest countries. You can see the results of the survey at Greendex and read a bit more about their methodology. Not surprisingly, the United States came in last, setting records for the largest output of pollution and the least green-friendly consumer habits. They surveyed people on their individual choices including foods, transportation, and environmental attitudes. Indian habits were rated best in terms of eating, with 84% of Indians eating locally produced food at least once a week.
Nick Nuttall, spokesperson for the United Nations Environment Program, had the following to say about the survey results:
“It is certainly illuminating and perhaps overturns the common perception that it is only consumers in the rich countries who are environmentally aware and eco-active on the High Street and in their purchasing habits.”
